Natural Scotland on Screen
Creative Scotland, the national agency for all aspects of arts, screen and creative industries, is supporting a programme of film and television screenings exploring representations of Natural Scotland. This programme will tour to cinemas and other non-theatrical venues in Scotland.
This website is the central collection point for all information about the screenings and background to the project.
The Scottish Government has declared 2013 the ‘Year of Natural Scotland’.
One of Creative Scotland’s contributions to the year’s activities is ‘Imagining Natural Scotland’, a large scale project which explores the cultural sector’s take – past and present – on ‘Natural Scotland’: how has ‘Natural Scotland’ been represented, misrepresented, imagined and re-imagined in literature, visual arts, film, TV, photography, music, theatre, popular culture, etc.
The ‘Natural Scotland on Screen’ project aims to assemble a group of feature films, documentaries and television programmes in which Scotland’s natural landscapes, wildlife and biodiversity play an important role, and to promote these films in a variety of contexts.
- A curated programme of 'Natural Scotland' films and television programmes will be screened to audiences across Scotland in cinemas and other venues.
- A series of events will promote debate and discussion surrounding the representation of 'Natural Scotland' in films.
