Hamish Macbeth (1995)
Loosely based on a series of mystery novels by M. C. Beaton the series concerns a local police officer, played by Robert Carlyle, in the fictitious town of Lochdubh on the north coast of Scotland. Hamish occasionally bends the rules when it suits him or when it can help some of his fellow eccentric townsfolk.
This was the series that established the now-familiar Sunday night series - set in a rural place, with a comforing cast of regular characters in stories that are largely simple and free of the violence and trauma of weekday drama and news.
Shot on location in Plockton.
