This is one of a few vegan also vegetarian friendly cookbooks I have found that has simple instructions and basic ingredients, as well as quick meals that are also super yummy dishes We are a vegan family that works a lot and I do most of the cooking This book has been SO helpful with healthy, simple, quick and yummy meal making I usually like images in my cookbooks too, but this book is so nicely layed out and the instructions make enough sense that I am ok without pictures.

This one gets one star.First of all, no pictures A cook book must have pictures Pretty pic on the cover, but none inside Second, a whole lot of microwaving A microwaved potato Blech Third, too much soy Soy cheese blech I understand it could be made with dairy, but she just seems so gung ho about soy everything And TVP gag Maragarine instead of butter I get that it makes it vegan, not just vegetarian, but maragine is some foul stuff No reason AT ALL to eat that Nothing in this book spoke to me to [...]

Let me start first by saying that I m not a Vegetarian, however, I ve been exploring vegetarian based options for my meals and I have to say that this book, despite the fact that there are no color photos which I enjoy , is a great resource It s broken down by meal type, like Easy Breakfast Treats and Sandwiches, Wraps, and Schools Lunches and it s chock full of lively recipes that look tasty Overall, The Vegetarian Family Cookbook by Nava Atlas is a great for any family trying to slowly but su [...]

I have a lot of cookbooks but this has become the one I open first The recipes have easy to find ingredients simple preparation and the make it a meal sections have great suggestions to round out many of the recipes DH, who wouldn t eat a sweet potato even if you buried it under butter and brown sugar, loved the black bean and sweet potato chili And dinner guests who aren t vegetarians are satisfied by the heartier recipes or at least that s what they tell me.

I borrowed this cookbook from a friend last summer At the time, I had one vegetarian daughter Now my other daughter is a vegetarian, too, so I have become one to simplify dinners I have tried several recipes from this book, and never been displeased We are not the most adventurous of eaters, but I want to make sure we are getting the nutrition we need, as well as eating yummy foods I have not been disappointed with this cookbook yet

This is one of the first cookbooks I began using when husband and I transitioned from a month of vegetarianism veganism to full blown veganism in July As a basic cookbook, I thought it was pretty good and many of the vegetarian recipes are easily adaptable to omit dairy and eggs I am moving on to try out some other recipes, but might come back to this one down the road.

I absolutely love this cookbook, partially because it is vegetarian and because the recipes aren t to over your head they are actual meals that you would cook for your family and my family is vegetarian, other than my step dad, but my sis and mom are I really recommend it for all you veggie families out there

    Melanie
So far, the recipes I ve made from this have been pretty bland maybe, I guess, b c they are meant for kids They sound good and end up just being blah and mostly flavorless I m trying one , and then giving it back to the library gladly.

    Amy
I figured I d look this over from the library before deciding if I want to buy it or not ______________________________I made a few recipes and they were good, but not enough to interest me to buy the book.
