Read the full review at Creepy Or Cool Paradise starts off with family man, John, and his darling daughter, Jemina, queuing that s right, queuing It s for a pretty good reason though they re about to be whisked away from the depleted and dying planet Earth to man s idyllic new colony across the stars Earth s resources have been drained and overpopulation 24 billion worldwide has led to a single child cap being put into effect in The Country A pretty depressing outlook for the future, eh If only [...]

Paradise is a short story about a family leaving their lives on Earth behind to travel through a wormhole to live on a remote planet called Paradise As they wait in the queue to start the process of travelling we start to get the feeling that something here isn t rightI liked this short story, reading it in about half an hour It s well written and enjoyable, but I wasn t blown away by it There aren t really any new ideas in it and I guessed the ending about 30% 40% in It s worth a read though.

The beginning of this book is really cute The book slowly gives you an idea as to who the main characters are, where they are, and where they are going It then goes in to explain why Paradise was created, what it is and a little on how people get selected I really enjoy the emotional buildup and the way this author writes So full of detail and mental thoughts. This seems to be a science fiction type book I am curious to learn about where Paradise resides It has a question stirring up not only in [...]

What we have here is a teaser of sorts about an over populated, environmentally doomed planet and the method chosen to alleviate those problems Paradise is a planet which is reached and colonized through a portal in space and is offered to the populous via a lottery This Ray Bradbury like tale takes the reader on the journey of John, his wife Sarah and daughter Jemima as they make their way through the queue and into the entrance to the portal and their thoughts and concerns about the new life a [...]

It s rare that I keep reading when I m tired I simply could not put this story down The curiosity and caring were killing me a cck attack, new word And just when I thought I knew where things were going, events took fascinating new turns that could be understood on than one level Not to give anything away, but you re in for some surprises This story can stand on its own as a satisfying read or be a good set up for a further adventure I ll take both This is ingenious, deeply personal and emotion [...]

I was a bit disappointed with this book, in part because it s actually a short story and not a longer piece that I d expected from the blurb Which will teach me not to check the number of pages first Not that I don t enjoy short stories, and indeed, I was quickly drawn into the world portrayed. It s very well written, and the seemingly sedate entry with the family waiting in line to be sent to Paradise really drew me in It worked well to get to know the family and also establish the circumstances [...]
