Inventor of worlds, founder of religions, shaper of destinies It s all in a day s work for a fantasy novelist Despite a lifetime of dabbling in things like technology a PhD in computer science and creativity theory and Hollywood animation, my first passion has always been writing If I was allowed to write my own reviews, the words irreverent, thought provoking, and funny would get used a lot But don t trust me on that After all, I tell lies for a living.

Updated I had to up this to a five star review, because even though I stand by everything I wrote down below, I m getting really antsy for the third book If I m still that interested in the series after a couple of years, it has to have resonated really well Change the note about the 3.5 to 4.5 I wish there was nuance to the ratings Read the below, that s the ticket. All in all, I liked Oath Keeper I would recommend it, especially to the young fantasy readers I know, and I m glad I read it Just [...]

First, I would like to say Thank You to Mr Smith for the complimentary advance Kindle copy of this book. Now, on to the review When I reviewed Strange Places Finding Tayna 1 I talked about the content of the book, but I do not want to do that here I would prefer to talk about the overall feel of this book.Mr Smith has created and amazingly complex world with multiple sentient races While many people have created wonderful fantasy realms the one thing that is different here is that there is no goo [...]

Oath Keeper is the sequel to Strange Places by Jefferson Smith For the most part, Oath Keeper was enjoyable and better written than book 1, but there were things I liked about Strange Places .I ll start with the positives This book was well written I only caught 4 5 typos, which is decent The dialogue varied among different characters and flowed well, the writing is clever and uses a wide variety of vocabulary, and the plot is complex and interesting Generally, the author also reminded readers [...]

This review is for the Kindle edition ebook.Orphans, demons, gnomes, magic, twists and turns, and excitement, all in one book. You thought life was difficult A 13 year old orphan must decide if finding her parents or saving the world is important Further, she must do this with the help of strangers Can she do what needs to be done I really like this series The first book was very good at holding my attention The second book, this one, is also very good at holding onto my attention As Tayna s jou [...]

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy I think one of my biggest gripes with this book is that I couldn t remember all the details from the first book, which was a problem because the book didn t really help me It was straight into the story full speed ahead Great if you ve just finished the first book, not so good if it was about four months ago The world building in these books is pretty awesome the sheer inventiveness of the details of each race, the two different worlds, etc is fascin [...]

I liked the first book in the series Strange Places , and liked this one even It s meatier The characters are deeper, the world is complex and just as original , and the story sucked me right in I still loved the funny lines as in Strange Places , but there were also moments of deep philosophy here, all served up light and sweet with a cherry on top and no heavy aftertaste My only complaint was the cliffhanger ending again But that won t stop me from reading the next book in the series Nice o [...]

I read Oath Keeper before it was published, and before I read the first book in the series, Strange Places It charmed me right away, and I was happy to spend time in the alternate world where the majority of the story takes places The characters are engaging and the plot lines are intriguing I love not knowing what will happen next If you like fantasy, magic, YA with fantasy and magic, you ll probably like this story.

I NEED BOOK THREE I NEED BOOK THREE I NEED BOOK THREE I want to visit the world of Methilien and hang out with the Djin like it s a real place I can just magically get to Thanks for another great book, even with the dastardly cliffhanger Wish I had read them closer together though, was lost for a bit at the start of the book.

I really enjoyed seeing this world or should I say these worlds develop through this novel There are many characters and strands of story so each only progressed a little through time we learned a while lot about the history and current situation while leaving some intriguing questions for the finale.
